Change is difficult. Moving outside of your comfort zone is scary. But there is nothing worse that living with regret and I didn’t want that to be my reality.

So in January I left the country I called home all my life in order to start a new adventure. Only a handful of people knew I was leaving; most only told days before my departure.

I know my family and friends love me. But I also know that their fears would only have added weight to the fears I ahead surrounding my decision.

There have been moments of persistent tears and times filled with contagious laughter, video calls that lasted hours and endless pictures of milestones I get to witness from a far.

Life as I knew it is no more. But that means I get to start a new chapter and shape my own reality. Everything feels upside down but that’s okay.
